Trajectory Design with STK/Astrogator
AGI's four-day, hands-on STK/Astrogator course will familiarize students with the capabilities of the software for mission planning and operations. Attendees will create example scenarios that illustrate particular features and demonstrate fundamental STK/Astrogator concepts. Various types of missions, including LEO, GEO, libration point, and interplanetary, will be discussed. Participants will:
- Create and use Mission Control Sequences (MCS)

- Create and use different propagators
- Use the Astrogator Component Browser
- Create and use custom calculation objects
- Configure and use Astrogator targeting profiles
- Create their own custom MCS for use with other scenarios
- Use the launch segment to model a launch
- Target initial orbital parameters using launch and coast segments
- Create and use custom engine models
- Use impulsive and finite burn segments to plan manoeuvres
- Configure and use multiple stopping conditions and constraints
- Configure and use embedded Astrogator sequences
DURATION:

Understanding Space Using STK
If you are working in the space industry but don’t have an aerospace background, attend the "Understanding Space Using STK" three-day training. You’ll get a crash course from the experts who literally "wrote the book" on space system fundamentals, and learn how to use AGI’s analysis software STK in support of your space-related operations.
Teaching Science and Technology, Inc. (TSTI), co-authors of the textbook Understanding Space: An Introduction to Astronautics lead the first two days, teaching key space mission concepts, including:
- The big space picture: why and how
- Space industry history and current trends
- Key orbital concepts, laws, and terms
- Interplanetary travel
- Payloads and spacecraft design
- Spacecraft subsystems and rockets
- AGI leads the third day with a hands-on introduction to STK specifically designed to correlate to the materials presented on the first two days. Highlights include:
Advanced analysis capabilities of the STK software suite
How to build a scenario and analyse results with reporting and graphing tools
Enhancing a scenario with real-world constraints
Viewing a scenario in 3D using STK/Advanced Visualization Option
DURATION:
Three Days
RECOMMENDED PREREQUISITES:
None, however this is a fast-paced class intended for qualified aerospace, defence, and intelligence professionals and educators.
FORMAT:
Two days lecture, one day hands-on
"Understanding Space Using STK" training highlights:
Fundamentals of orbital mechanics from basic principles, through classical orbital elements, to the complexities of requirements interactions in orbit and constellation design
- Use of STK for teaching orbital mechanics
- Advanced analysis capabilities of the STK software suite
- How to build a scenario and analyse results with reporting and graphing tools
