Auspace Services to the Mining Industry

Auspace is proud to offer our expertise gained in complex communications (particularly satellite communications) to the mining industry. While this has many facets, our main focus is on improving GPS mining effectiveness and solving problems facing complex terrestrial communications such as Mesh systems.

GPS Mining

Physical limitations always reduce the performance of even the best GPS mining control systems. Electronics simply cannot overcome problems associated with satellite positioning or reduced visibility of the sky from the bottom of the pit. Auspace is the Australasian business partner for STK, the software used to manage the GPS satellite constellation. Auspace cannot change the location of GPS satellites, but we can accurately predict the changing precision that your GPS (or any other GNSS system) will produce at any location in the mine, at any time in the future. We can even predict GPS accuracy in future locations, that is, at levels that have not yet been dug.

The accuracy of our time dynamic, geometric, 3D and communications modelling means that we can conduct field strength surveys of your mine to optimise repeater placement or solve existing communications problems without having to conduct site surveys. This capability greatly reduces the time to roll-out new systems or solve existing problems. Mine management is also relieved of the risk of injury inherent in all site visits by external personnel. Importantly, the service is fast enough that work does not have to stop to allow for communications systems upgrades. Increased accuracy, reduced risk and reduced time all translate directly to reduced costs.

Terrestrial Communications Modelling

Auspace is the Australasian Business Partner for QualNet, the world leading communications modelling software. QualNet is the only software that reliably and accurately models Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) communications systems such as Mesh systems in real time or better. Using QualNet, we can model your complete communications system to allow for network management, solve existing problems and plan for future upgrades. As communications becomes increasingly vital to mine operations, the importance of managing the supporting networks is also increasing. Auspace is able to enable that management.
